June 6, 2022.

The U.S. has strongly condemned the military’s decision to detain pro-democracy resistance leaders in Myanmar, as reported by the U.S. Embassy in Yangon based on statements from State Department spokesperson Ned Price. He noted that the military’s announcement regarding the detention of pro-democracy leaders demonstrates a disregard for human rights and the rule of law. “We demand the release of all unlawfully detained individuals,” Price stated. The Myanmar military junta has confirmed the death sentence for four individuals, including Ko Jinmi and Ko Phyo Zeya Thaw, which has been met with condemnation from the international community, including the United Nations and France.
