In Mying Township, local residents, along with the Mying Township Defense Forces, members of the Mying Township General Strike Committee, and the All Burma Student Federation, united to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising and to protest against the military dictatorship. The ceremony was attended by the commander of the 703rd Battalion and the 7th Division, Soe Moe, who delivered a speech.
During the speech, he stated, “There is no other way but to fight against the military council that seeks to rule the country through deception. Peaceful resolutions and dialogues are not understood by the military junta. To counter the oppressive military group, the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) have emerged. While we regret that our defense forces cannot fully protect the lives and homes of our people, we are determined to uproot the military regime.”
