Four Civilians Killed and Six Injured in Heavy Artillery Attack on Htantawgyi Village

In Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, the military’s heavy artillery fire on Htantawgyi Village resulted in the deaths of four civilians and injuries to six others. Local residents reported that at approximately 4 PM on August 7, the military targeted the village with artillery, causing the casualties without any ongoing fighting in the area.

Victims included individuals from Kyesar Village and Htantawgyi Village. Among the deceased were Ko Lwan Moe, 41, from Kyesar, and Maung Myint Than Aung (aka Pho Wa), 22, along with Maung Phyo Zeya, 28, and Pho Thet Wai, 24. A local resident recounted that “the artillery from the army at Shwe Taung Oo targeted the eastern part of Htantawgyi, directly hitting a betel nut shop where three men were purchasing betel leaves, leading to their deaths. A total of seven others were injured, and one of them died during treatment in the morning of August 8.”

The injured included U Sein Lin, Daw Tin Tin Lay, Maung Yay Ko Ko Toe, Ko Zaw Min Oo, Ko Min Thant, and Maung Pyae Phyo Thant.
