Airstrike on Refugee Camp in Lwaingko Leads to Civilian Deaths

In Lwaingko Township, Karenni State, the military junta carried out an airstrike on a refugee camp housing displaced civilians, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a child. According to a spokesperson for the KNDF Central News and Information Department, the attack occurred on December 31, 2024, around 4:00 PM, when two bombs were dropped on the camp by military aircraft.

One female civilian was killed instantly, while an 8-year-old child was critically injured with severe wounds to the abdomen and died from the injuries. Another civilian succumbed to fatal leg injuries. Additionally, a student sustained a head injury and is currently in a critical condition.

This deadly airstrike is part of the ongoing violence in the region, with growing concerns over the safety and well-being of displaced civilians as military operations continue to target vulnerable populations.
