In the Paung Kuu region, specifically in the villages of Laydo Township and Muu Township in Nyaunglaypin District, heavy artillery and drone strikes have resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to six others, including children aged 1 year and 12 years old. According to the KNU Central Command, six houses were also damaged during these attacks.
On December 26, 2024, at approximately 3:30 PM, a shell fired by the 307th Shwewa Battalion in Laydo Township landed in the village of Thaminein, causing an explosion. The home of Daw Khinsan Myint was destroyed, and significant damage was reported.
On December 28, 2024, at around 4:00 PM, the military junta’s forces launched three heavy artillery rounds from Natthan Kwin, which landed in the village of Intaingkone. The explosion injured three villagers, including 20-year-old Saw Khwar Zay, 55-year-old Nyaalu Ma, and 40-year-old Nyaalazay. Additionally, two homes in the village were also destroyed.
On December 30, 2024, around 5:05 PM, a 120mm artillery shell was fired from Kwinchaung, landing in the Intaingkone village. This caused injuries to two more individuals, 17-year-old Saw Thanehtu and 12-year-old Nawdahlaysay. One house was damaged.
Lastly, on December 31, 2024, at approximately 12:46 PM, another two 120mm shells were launched from Natthan Kwin and exploded in the same village of Intaingkone. The home of a villager named Nawmuu was reported to have been destroyed in the attack.
The escalating violence has led to further civilian casualties and damage to homes, with ongoing concerns for the safety of local communities.
