In Sagaing Township, the military shot and killed four civilians, falsely accusing them of being PDFs, while also torching and destroying more than 25 homes, according to a spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Sagaing Township.
On January 13, at approximately 3:00 a.m., two civilians from Taline Shin Village were shot and killed by the military on the Sagaing-Minkin Road. Following the killings, the military spread false claims labeling the victims as landmine-planting PDF members. Similarly, on January 12, two more civilians were killed by the military near Let Pan Village on the Sagaing-Minkin Road. False allegations of landmine involvement were disseminated through military-aligned media channels.
“The military killed two civilians from Taline Shin Village on the Sagaing-Minkin Road and falsely claimed they were PDFs. We don’t know their names yet, but they were civilians, not PDFs. Additionally, two more civilians were killed near Let Pan Village, and a civilian from Let Pan Village was also killed by artillery on a previous day. Over 25 homes in Let Pan Village were set on fire by the military. Taline Shin Village is located before reaching Minkin, and residents now dare not return to their villages,” explained a spokesperson from the Sagaing Township People’s Defense Force.
