The People’s Defense Force (PSLF) and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) have reported that military airstrikes in areas controlled by the TNLA in Palang State killed 13 civilians and injured 26 others in January.
On January 8, there was no combat, but the military launched an aerial bombing attack, dropping approximately 20 bombs on the eastern part of Mokeote Township, which resulted in the destruction of five civilian homes, a monastery, and a vehicle.
On January 21 and 22, further bombings in Nongcho Township with four bombs from fighter jets killed five men and four women, while three women were injured, and nine homes and one monastery were destroyed.
In a similar attack in Kaumai Township on January 25, four bombs dropped by fighter jets killed two men and two women, injuring five men and 18 women. Twelve homes were also destroyed.
The PSLF/TNLA reported that the military’s airstrikes, without any ongoing combat, were intentionally targeted at civilians in the Ta-Ain region.
