Kani Township: Military Attack Kills 5 Civilians, Injures 20

The military’s assault on Chaung Ma East village in Kani Township, using heavy artillery and parachute bombs, has resulted in the deaths of five civilians and injuries to 20 others, according to local residents speaking

The attack occurred on the evening of February 18, 2025, at around 5 p.m., when the military targeted Chaung Ma East village, located in the southern part of Kani Township in Sagaing Region. It has been reported that the heavy artillery and parachute bombs were launched by the Northwestern Military Command based in Monywa Township. “These are parachute bombs fired by the Northwestern Command. Four 120 mm bombs were used, two in each round of attack. The victims include Ko Chit Oo, Daw Myat The, Ko Nay Lin Htun, Ko Han Thu Ko Ko, and a child from Chaung Ma West village. Twenty others also suffered injuries from the shrapnel,” said a resident of Chaung Ma East village.
