A 50-year-old woman was killed in a junta airstrike on Nat Taung village in Singu Township, Mandalay Region, on the night of the Myanmar New Year’s Day, according to a local official from the People’s Defense Force in Pyin Oo Lwin District.
The bombing occurred at around 8:15 p.m. on April 17, when a military aircraft dropped bombs near Nat Taung village. The attack resulted in the immediate death of Daw Mone, aged 50, who reportedly went into premature labor due to the impact and could not survive.
In addition to the fatality, four other civilians were injured in the blast. The identities and conditions of the wounded have not yet been confirmed.
“The airstrike happened at around 8:15 tonight. Daw Mone, 50 years old, died on the spot. Four others were injured,” said a representative from the Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defense Force.
Locals condemned the junta’s continued air attacks on civilian areas, even on culturally significant days such as the Myanmar New Year, labeling it a deliberate assault on unarmed communities.
