The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance and Development Cooperation (HDCO) reported yesterday that, despite the military council’s declared ceasefire, the junta forces carried out 409 attacks across five townships in Rakhine State, resulting in the death of one civilian and the destruction of 24 buildings.
The military council had announced a first ceasefire from April 2 to April 22 and a second ceasefire from April 23 to April 30. However, it was learned that during the first ceasefire period, from April 2 to April 22, the military conducted attacks on Kyaukphyu, Taungup, Kyauktaw, Sittwe, and Pauktaw townships, violating the declared truce.
During these breaches of the ceasefire, one civilian was killed and 28 others were injured, including five children between the ages of five and fourteen, according to reports.
In addition, a total of 24 buildings were damaged, including 21 houses, two shops, and one religious building.
