Joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) have launched coordinated attacks on junta military bases in Paingkyon town, Hlaingbwe Township, along the Thai-Myanmar border, forcing over 300 civilians to flee into Thailand, according to local military sources and Thai media reports.
The offensive began on the morning of May 7, with KNLA-aligned troops deploying drones to drop bombs on junta positions spread across Paingkyon. Fighting reportedly continued throughout the day, with resistance forces surrounding and assaulting the military camps.
As a result of the intensified clashes, a total of 327 civilians have fled across the border into Thailand to escape the escalating conflict, according to sources monitoring the situation.
