Two Women Injured in Military Shelling of Zee Kone and Alu Gyi Villages in Kyaikto Township

Two women were injured after Myanmar military forces fired 10 heavy artillery shells into Zee Kone and Alu Gyi villages in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, according to a statement released by the Karen National Union (KNU) Central Committee.

At around 10:10 a.m. on June 14, soldiers from the junta’s Light Infantry Division 44 headquarters and Light Infantry Battalion 3 launched eight 120mm shells into Zee Kone village. Two of the shells exploded in the village, injuring Daw Aye San, 53, and damaging the homes of U Phoe Pain and U Ko Oo.

Later that day, at 5:03 p.m., the military’s Light Infantry Battalion 3 fired two more 120mm shells into Alu Gyi village. One shell exploded in the village, injuring Ma Wa Wa Oo, 30, according to the KNU statement.
