Junta Executes Four Residents in Mupay Village, Destroys Homes and Property

The junta executed four residents in Mupay Village, Kyaunggyi Township, at approximately 4:55 PM on July 2, according to a statement from the KNU – Karen National Union Central Committee. The military entered the village, killing local residents, including 18-year-old Maung Nay Lin Htun and 24-year-old Saw Ma Nay Htoo, as well as two unidentified individuals. Another resident, Ko Ye Min Soe, 30, was also reported injured.

In addition to the executions, the military reportedly set fire to and destroyed 12 homes, 13 motorcycles, one car, and several bicycles in Mupay Village. The assault was led by Colonel Zeya Lin and involved military units Kamara (439), Khala (60), and Kamara (531), as stated by the KNU – Karen National Union Central Committee.

Similarly, on June 22, the junta stormed Shalha Village in Hpa-An District, where they apprehended and executed U Hlaing Myint, who was suffering from mental illness, according to local residents. “When the military entered the village, U Hlaing Myint remained because of his condition. They captured and executed him, and his body was later discovered with signs of having been beaten,” one local resident recounted.
