In Moebye, located at the junction of Shan State and Kayah State, military forces launched an attack this morning, firing heavy weapons into the city center, resulting in heavy artillery falling in the bustling residential neighborhoods of Moebye and causing fires in civilian homes, according to local residents.
Starting from 5:00 AM on July 17, the armed forces of the junta began entering the city of Moebye and commenced their attacks. By 7:25 AM, the military continued to fire heavy weapons into the city center, prompting residents to flee for safety, with reports of some civilian homes being hit and catching fire.
A representative from a humanitarian organization assisting the displaced residents of Moebye commented, “This started early in the morning. It’s now quiet, but the streets are closed. Some houses in three busy neighborhoods have been struck by heavy artillery and are on fire. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries among the residents, but the situation is dire.”
