Myanmar Return Ranger Force Leader General Aung Myo Arrested in Mandalay; Eleven Youths Detained in Taunggyi

In Mandalay, General Aung Myo, the leader of the Myanmar Return Ranger Force (M.R.R.F), was arrested by the military on August 1 at approximately 6 AM, according to a spokesperson from the group.

“One member managed to escape while shopping. All others have been notified and have reached a safe area. The arrest occurred early in the morning, and they were armed with three pistols and grenades,” the M.R.R.F spokesperson stated.

Currently, the group has suspended all missions indefinitely due to the situation.

In addition, in Taunggyi, the military reportedly detained at least eleven youths early this morning around 3 AM. Among those arrested are Soe Zaw Latt (aka) Hmankyi (aka) Lin Nyo and his wife, who were taken from their home. Following this, the military also raided a monastery, arresting an additional nine individuals, raising concerns for the safety of those detained, according to local residents.
