Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is scheduled to arrive in Myanmar on August 3 to meet with military leaders, according to reports from several international news agencies.
Following its invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been facing sanctions from Western countries, prompting it to strengthen its diplomatic ties with nations in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
Discussions will also include matters related to defense and security cooperation between Russia and Myanmar, as stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The IL96 aircraft, carrying the Russian foreign minister and accompanying delegation, is expected to land in Naypyidaw on August 3.
