In Mhawza village of Phyu Township, Bago Region, 6th-grade student Aung Myint Myat, who stabbed a military guard with a knife, is currently being detained and treated for gunshot wounds at a clinic.
On August 3, around 9 AM, Aung Myint Myat stabbed the soldier, leading to a chase where military personnel opened fire and captured him. He was subsequently taken to the clinic with serious gunshot wounds but is reported to be in critical condition under military detention.
A source stated, “The bullet went all the way through his arm, and he’s losing a lot of blood. They’ve put him in a room at the clinic and are detaining him there. The military is asking who ordered him to stab the soldier and why he did it. I’ve heard he was beaten while being interrogated. He’s being detained and interrogated at the clinic. The concern for his life is primarily within the military’s hands. We’re not entirely sure of his condition at the clinic.”
Aung Myint Myat, who is only 14 years old, may face detention at a youth rehabilitation center even if he recovers, and sources indicate that prayers are being said to ensure his safety during the military’s interrogation at the clinic.
