August 8, 2022

In Launglon Township of the Tawau District, young women, LGBT individuals, and student youth gathered today, August 8, to protest against the fascist military in commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the 8888 People’s Uprising.

The protest leaders stated, “The 8888 Uprising that began on August 8, 1988, brought an end to the military dictatorship led by General Ne Win and the Socialist Party of Burma. Likewise, the military dictatorship that unlawfully seized power on February 1, 2021, led by Min Aung Hlaing and other violent military leaders can also be ultimately dismantled through a revolution involving all sectors of the populace.”
