In Ngat Myaw village, located in the Yesagyo Township of Magway Region, local residents reported that around 10 AM today, August 17, troops from the military junta, accompanied by Pyu Saw Htee, opened fire and set fire to civilian homes, resulting in the complete destruction of the village. One local stated, “There hasn’t been any confrontation today; they just entered and started burning without any reason. We can’t get into the village right now because it’s still on fire. We don’t know the extent of the damage yet. The local defense forces are still trying to enter to extinguish the flames.”
Ngat Myaw village consists of approximately 600 households, and the villagers are fleeing to escape the destruction. It remains unclear whether innocent civilians have been harmed. On August 11, military forces also invaded the local monastery, stealing public property and destroying 11 motorcycles, according to local accounts.
