Three homes were destroyed after the military set fire to A Lel Khone village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, this morning, according to local sources. The attack occurred at around 6:50 a.m. on October 25, when junta forces from the 363rd Infantry Battalion burned the houses and later moved northwards, entering Kyet Kone village by 7:45 a.m., and reaching Nyo Kone village by 9:00 a.m.

“They loot food, steal money, kill livestock for food, and have detained three villagers from the northern part of Kanbalu who were fleeing the violence. We still haven’t heard of their release. People from the southern part were also reportedly detained, but we don’t know the exact number,” said a member of the Kanbalu activist group.

In a similar attack on October 23, junta forces torched 11 homes in Nyan Inn village and another 15 homes in Ywama village, also in Kanbalu Township.

Locals reported that the military was expected to return to Koe Taung Bo after leaving Nyo Kone village this morning.

In a separate incident, on the afternoon of October 24, junta forces shelled makeshift shelters in Kulama Let Kaung Kywe village in Shwebo Township, where displaced villagers were staying. One woman, Ma Cho Mar Lwin, was injured by shrapnel and remains in critical condition, unable to have the shrapnel removed.
