A military shelling incident in Kanbalu, Sagaing Region, resulted in the death of a 13-year-old child, along with injuries to a 7-year-old child and two elderly individuals, according to reports from the Kyunhla-Kanbalu Activists Group.
At around 2 p.m. today, the military unit stationed in the vicinity of Kotaw village launched heavy artillery fire towards nearby villages, leading to the fatal incident in Zikanar village. The shelling not only resulted in casualties but also caused one house to catch fire.
A representative from the Kyunhla-Kanbalu Activists Group stated, “Due to the indiscriminate shelling by the brutal military, a 13-year-old boy from Zikanar village was killed, and a 68-year-old grandmother suffered severe injuries to her abdomen, putting her life in jeopardy. Additionally, a 67-year-old grandmother was injured in her arm, and a 7-year-old girl was also injured.”
Furthermore, the brutal military has reportedly detained 14 residents from Zikanar village without any cause, and it remains unknown where they are being held, raising concerns for their safety.
