Military Arson Attack Destroys Eight Villages in Depayin, Ongoing Destruction in Pidaka Village

On December 10, it has been reported that the military has set fire to eight villages in the Depayin township of Sagaing Region in a single day, according to local sources from the Depayin Youth Group. Villages such as Wegyi, Nyanghla, Tharyaktaw, Chaungpaok, Mukhan, Layakone, Nyangyi Kone, and Mae Oe within Depayin township are being targeted for destruction. A representative from the Depayin Youth Group stated, “Yesterday, the military set fire to the villages where they had stationed overnight, and this morning, they continued to burn down villages along their supply routes. We cannot yet confirm the extent of the destruction.” Similarly, local residents reported that on the afternoon of December 10, around 3 PM, the military was setting fire to Pidaka village in Ye-U township. A local resident mentioned, “At around 3 PM today, it has been reported that armed forces have entered Pidaka village and are setting fires.”
