Local residents reported that the military has set fire to civilian homes in HinChoTaw Village, Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, during the morning hours of January 11. Approximately 20 members of the military junta were involved in the destruction of four homes belonging to innocent civilians.
A local resident recounted, “Around 5 a.m., they arrived in vehicles, and we didn’t suspect them as soldiers. Once they entered the village, they unlawfully confiscated phones and indiscriminately set houses ablaze without any justification.”
The destruction of civilian homes has been strongly condemned by the Basic Education Students’ Strike Committee in Launglon Township, as noted on their page. Residents indicated that the military personnel responsible for the arson came from the nearby Kyaukni Village along with soldiers and paramilitary forces.
