Six-Year-Old Girl Killed and 60 Homes Destroyed in Military Attack in Tantar U Village, Sagaing Region

A six-year-old girl, Ma Lin Yu Par, was reported killed due to gunfire from the Myanmar military during an attack on Tantar U village in Sagaing Region. This incident was confirmed by a spokesperson from the local PDF (People’s Defense Force) on February 2, following the military’s aggressive incursion into the village.

At approximately 9:20 AM, the military targeted a civilian home in Tantar U village, where Ma Lin Yu Par was studying nearby. The gunfire hit her in the leg, leading to her tragic death. Reports indicate that at around 1:22 PM the previous day, the military set fire to Tatar Village, destroying about 60 homes.

Furthermore, at 3:30 PM, over 30 soldiers re-entered the Tantar U police station and opened fire toward the west side of Tantar U School. At 3:40 PM, they launched another assault, setting fire to an additional civilian home.

A local resident stated, “Today, 110 households from the Shwehla group in Tatar Village, with a population of around 440, are displaced due to military actions. About 60 homes have been burned. One pig and one cow have also died due to the fire. The military started the fire in Tatar village around 1 PM.”
