In Shinkhu Township of Mandalay Region, a military shelling incident in the village of Pinle Gyi resulted in the deaths of three civilians, including a pregnant woman and an infant, as reported by local residents.
On August 26, around 5:40 PM, armed forces from the military junta fired four rounds of artillery from the Kaungmyaw gate towards the western side of a pond near a tea shop in Pinle Gyi village, leading to the explosions.
The blasts caused the deaths of a 30-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Maung Mon, along with her infant and a 60-year-old woman, Daw Kyi Htay.
Local residents stated, “They were bathing in the pond when the shell landed. The pregnant woman was only eight days away from giving birth. When her mother died, the baby inside her was still moving, but it unfortunately did not survive during the delivery.”
The bodies of the three deceased were buried on August 26. It is reported that due to frequent artillery attacks by the military from the Kaungmyaw gate, residents in the village are currently fleeing to seek safety.
