312 Young People Arrested in Mandalay and Sagaing Transferred to Training Centers in Kayah and Kholan

Young people arrested in Mandalay and Sagaing Regions for alleged military recruitment are being transported to the Eastern Central Regional Military Command in Kholan and the No. 3 Tatmadaw training school in Kyain Taung, according to local sources. The total number of youths arrested in Mandalay has reached 312.

Those arrested in Mandalay’s Pyigyitagon Township and from Mon Hlaing Township in Sagaing are being sent to attend training sessions at the military facilities in Kholan and Kyain Taung. A local resident stated, “Since August 18, the administrator of G Middle Township in Mandalay, Saw Naing, has been calling young people from the neighborhoods and forcibly recruiting them for military service. Now, they are being sent to Kyain Taung and Kholan for training, including 10 youths from G Middle Township.”

Reports indicate that following the increased arrests since August 18 in Mandalay, the detained youths were transported to Kyain Taung and Kholan on September 9. Before their transfer, they were held captive at the 910 Engineering GE battalion near Maekyin Mountain, located to the east of Mandalay.

In addition to the 312 youths from Mandalay, young people arrested from Mon Hlaing Township in Sagaing are also being sent to Kholan and Kyain Taung for military training.
