In Gangaw District, Magway Region, airstrikes and shelling by the military on October 5 have resulted in the deaths of eight civilians and injuries to more than 14, according to reports from local residents to the Yangon-based news agency, Koba Kaung.
On October 5, around 12:20 PM and again at 12:40 PM, the military launched airstrikes on the outskirts of the Buddhist monastery in the northern area of Yay Shin village in Gangaw Township using jet fighters, leading to the death of a 43-year-old man due to severe head injuries.
Similarly, without any ongoing battles, the military dropped four bombs on Khin Myaw village in Thilin Township, with three detonating. Reports indicate that the explosions resulted in the deaths of four men at a motorcycle repair shop and another serious injury of a young girl who later succumbed to her injuries.
A local resident reported, “Today, four bombs fell in Khin Myaw village, three exploded, and five people are dead. The southern village also faced airstrikes. There are two people with severe injuries. The rest of the injury details have not been confirmed yet.”
Furthermore, around 9:30 AM today, the military used heavy weapons and drones to conduct airstrikes in Pan San village near Kyaukhtu, resulting in the deaths of a 41-year-old woman, Daw Khin Toe, and her 14-year-old son, Ma Khaing Su Lin. Approximately 14 other civilians were reported injured.
