Intense Fighting Near Panwa Town; KIA and PDF Seize Military Camp

Intense fighting is ongoing around Panwa Town in Kachin State, with the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and People’s Defense Force (PDF) reportedly seizing a military camp located on the outskirts of the town, according to KIA sources.

As of today, October 18, fighting has been fierce in the mountainous areas surrounding Panwa Town, particularly through the afternoon until 5 PM. The KIA announced that they had successfully taken control of a military camp situated in the city.

A KIA source stated, “Fighting has been intense throughout the day, particularly in the mountains around Panwa Town. We have seized a military camp located on the outskirts of the town. The battles are still quite intense.”

In addition, they have also reported seizing four military camps belonging to the 1003 Border Guard Command near Kanpaikti, although the command itself has yet to be captured, and operations against the 1003 Border Guard Command are ongoing.
