Four More Detainees, Including Major Ne Win, Killed in Military Airstrike on Ho Kho Village, Bringing Total Death Toll to 16 Over Two Days of Attacks

An airstrike by Myanmar’s military on Ho Kho Village in Naung Cho Township, northern Shan State, has claimed the lives of four detainees, including Major Ne Win, according to a statement by the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay). This brings the total number of fatalities to 16 over two days of airstrikes.

The airstrike was conducted at 1 a.m. on October 30, targeting the detention site where the detainees were held. Among the dead were detainees from the Belu Unit, with notable victims including Captain Ne Win from Camp 2 (7-Mile) and Corporal Ko Ko Aung from Camp 2 Thapate Kyin, along with Senior Clerk Corporal Aung Lwin from Meiktila Artillery Battalion 319 and Corporal Johnny Aung from Pyu Saw Htee.

Yesterday, the military also conducted airstrikes targeting other detainees, killing 12 individuals, including eight detainees. These recent strikes over the past two days have raised the death toll to 16, further intensifying concerns over the ongoing violence and the military’s targeting of detainees
