An airstrike by junta forces targeted the Bangkok refugee camp near La Ei village in Pekon Township, southern Shan State, damaging homes and a temple, according to a spokesperson from 1007 Mobye PDF 2’s Information Department.
The attack occurred today, November 18, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Two fighter jets dropped a total of five bombs on the camp, including one 500-pound bomb and two 200-pound bombs. The explosions caused destruction to the camp, nearby homes, and a temple, with injuries reported among displaced civilians. “There were civilian casualties, though details are not yet clear. The airstrike happened without any ongoing clashes. Fighter jets have been flying every three to four days, so we urge residents to stay alert and vigilant,” said the spokesperson. This is not the first time the Bangkok refugee camp has been targeted. On September 5, the same location was bombed despite the absence of clashes, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 civilians, including women and children.
