The Myanmar military has reportedly set fire to five villages in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, destroying 136 homes, including a school, according to a local resistance group representative.
Starting on December 13, military troops advancing from the Pakokku-Kamma border allegedly targeted the villages, leaving severe devastation in their wake. The affected villages include Thayar Aye (23 homes destroyed), Yay Myat (8 homes), Pyay Ai (1 home), War Kyun Twin (24 homes and one school), and Yay Lar Gyi (79 homes).
“After the military camp in Yay Lar Lay village was overrun by resistance forces, junta troops retaliated by torching these five villages. In total, 136 homes and one school were reduced to ashes,” said a representative from a local resistance group.
