In the Nyanglaybin District of Bago Region, the military junta’s forces carried out an attack on several villages in Letdo and Thohti townships, resulting in the death of one civilian and the capture of eight others. The statement from the KNU central office reported that many civilians from the region are fleeing for safety.
On the morning of December 18, at approximately 9:39 AM, the military’s Paingzalop-based Kha-264 battalion fired two 120mm mortar shells, which landed in the western part of Dalaseip village. The explosions destroyed two houses. Later that afternoon, around 1:45 PM and 2:00 PM, the military fired three 122mm Houxiza shells from Kwinchaung area, causing explosions near Kaukseik, Intaingkone, and Paythone villages. Additionally, the Kha-264 battalion fired two more 122mm shells near Thawzaikseik village, causing further damage.
On December 19, around 4:15 AM, military forces entered Kyaetkwin village and captured six residents: U Soe Myo (63), U Maung Myat Tin (60), Noh Htet Sa Pho (50), Noh Mame (45), Saw Khale Htoo (42), and Maung Thein Soe (53). These individuals were taken by the military.
Due to the military’s presence and actions, a total of 1,347 civilians from Kyaetkwin, Layeinzu, and Nwar Yechoung villages have been forced to flee for safety, and many are still hiding from the violence.
