In Rakhine State, airstrikes and mine explosions in Thandwe and Gwa towns have resulted in the deaths of two civilians, according to local sources, Arakan Princess Media and the Gwa Township Civilian Assistance Committee.
On the evening of December 23 at approximately 3:00 PM, two fighter jets from the military council carried out bombing attacks on the No. 4 Nyaung Pin Zeik quarter in Thandwe, killing one civilian and injuring six others. The deceased has been identified as U Pho Kyo, a 40-year-old resident of the No. 4 Nyaung Pin Zeik quarter, while the injured include Daw Khin Khin Nwe, U Than Win, Daw Ma Lone Nan, U Aung Thein Tin, Daw Aye Aye Than, and Daw Nwe Nwe.
The bombings caused severe damage to several homes and the Dhamma Yone in the No. 4 quarter, with significant destruction reported.
In a similar incident in Gwa Township, a mine explosion claimed the life of one civilian, while five others sustained severe injuries, according to a statement from the Gwa Township Civilian Assistance Committee, issued on December 23.
