At least five civilians, including a 10-year-old child, were killed in unprovoked military attacks on villages in Nyaungshwe Township, southern Shan State, during February, according to a representative of the Inle Region Human Rights Group.

Between February 1 and the end of the month, the military and its allied PNA forces launched 139 attacks using artillery, airstrikes, and drones on villages in the eastern part of Bilu Creek, including Nantote village, in Nyaungshwe Township’s Inle region.

These attacks resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including a child, and left nine others injured. Additionally, homes were damaged or destroyed by artillery fire and airstrikes, with several houses catching fire due to incendiary bombs.

Meanwhile, in areas controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), eight civilians lost their lives in February after stepping on landmines reportedly planted by the military, according to a TNLA statement.
