Myanmar’s military carried out airstrikes on villages in Kawkareik Township, Karen State, injuring four civilians and causing extensive damage to homes and a school, according to a statement from the Karen National Union (KNU) in Dooplaya District.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 5, a military jet bombed Asun Village in Kawkareik Township, despite the absence of active clashes. The attack injured a 28-year-old woman and a 62-year-old woman, while three civilian homes were destroyed.
On March 4, at around 1 p.m., another airstrike targeted the school in Baw Do Inn Village, also in Kawkareik Township. The bombing destroyed the school building, a well, a pond, and a motorcycle. A 15-year-old youth and a 36-year-old woman were injured in the attack.
The KNU Dooplaya District reported that the military deliberately targeted civilian structures, including religious buildings, hospitals, schools, and residential areas, in a continued campaign of indiscriminate airstrikes.
