Myanmar Military Burns Villagers Alive in Shwebo; Four Civilians Killed by Shelling and Fires

Myanmar’s military forces reportedly burned alive three villagers in Shwebo’s Namasarit village on February 25, while another civilian was killed by artillery fire.

Local residents reported that on February 25, junta forces entered Namasarit village, Shwebo District, Sagaing Region, and killed U Ba Thein, U Soe Lwin Oo, and Daw Khin Than by setting them on fire. Another villager, Ma Yin San Aye, was struck by a military-fired artillery shell and died instantly. Witnesses stated that Ma Yin San Aye was attempting to flee the village when she was fatally hit by the shell. U Ba Thein, U Soe Lwin Oo, and Daw Khin Than, aged 90, 50, and 70 respectively, were unable to escape in time and were subsequently burned alive by the junta forces. “Ma Yin San Aye was trying to run away but was hit by artillery and died on the spot. The remaining three couldn’t flee and were burned alive by the military,” a local resident said.
