U Kyaw Myo Min, the NLD chairman and state parliament representative from Bilin Township in Mon State, has reportedly been detained by the military in Bilin Township, according to NLD sources. On June 22, U Kyaw Myo Min and three friends were traveling on motorcycles when they were apprehended by the military. A source familiar with the situation stated, “U Kyaw Myo Min (the parliament representative), U Pan Myint, U Ko Ko Maung, and one villager were arrested by the military at around 9 AM yesterday. A villager was shot dead on the spot. The villager’s body was returned. We still don’t know if the parliament representative and the other two have been captured or executed. We assume they are detained since only one villager’s body has been recovered.” Additionally, in Mandalay Region, near Hnatcho Taw village in Myinchang Township, residents were reportedly detained by the military this morning after meter fees were collected. The military had threatened to slaughter and burn the entire village if they did not provide information on those who fired upon U Tin Ko, the deputy supervisor from the Myinchang electric office, and U Myo Zaw Win on June 21 at around 1 PM.
