The military has executed NLD members U Pan Myint and U Ko Ko Maung, who were arrested alongside Bilin Township MP U Kyaw Myo Min on June 22, and their bodies have been recovered, according to official statements from NLD members and the KNU. On June 22, the military detained U Kyaw Myo Min, U Pan Myint, U Ko Ko Maung, and a villager, with the latter being executed on the spot.

U Pan Myint and U Ko Ko Maung were reportedly tortured and executed on June 30, with their remains recovered recently, leading to an outcry over their deaths. “The bodies of the two party members, U Ko Ko Maung (executive member of Bilin Township) and U Pan Myint (NLD member), were found in a village near the area where they had been held,” confirmed a leader from the Bilin NLD.

The bodies displayed signs of extreme torture, with limbs and hands severely mutilated. It appeared that hot water or acid had been poured into their mouths, and their faces were unrecognizable due to the extensive damage inflicted on them. The KNU Duthathu (Myit/Kwat) Committee has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the deaths of U Pan Myint and U Ko Ko Maung.

U Pan Myint was 55 years old at the time of his execution, while U Ko Ko Maung was 51. Concerns are growing for the safety of MP U Kyaw Myo Min, who is also reported to be suffering from torture in custody.
