Military Burns Down Mimaungkon Village in Ye-u, Resulting in Death of 90-Year-Old Daw Than Thi

In the Ye-u Township of Sagaing Region, on July 13, the military junta reportedly entered and set fire to Mimaungkon village, destroying 70 houses and resulting in the death of 90-year-old Daw Than Thi. Local sources confirmed the tragic incident.

A resident commented, “Was it intentional to burn? We don’t know if they targeted our house or just spread the flames. One elderly woman was caught in the fire. They even mentioned that they would return to help two elderly people who couldn’t escape.”

Mimaungkon village consists of about 100 households, and local residents have reported that they have not been able to return to the village since the attack.

It has also been reported that members of the military junta have since entered nearby villages, including Wuthei and Tumang, as well as the local school.
