It has been reported by the We Love Myaing group that a 5-year-old child died after stepping on a landmine planted by the military inside a civilian compound in Kyauk Khwet village, Myaing Township, Magway Region. The military, which entered Kyauk Khwet village on September 25, had set up three landmines during an attack coordinated with the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and allied forces, resulting in the death of two soldiers. Afterward, it was revealed that landmines were planted inside a civilian home compound in the western part of Kyauk Khwet village.
Following the withdrawal of the military from the village, local residents returned to Kyauk Khwet on September 30. Unfortunately, while playing in the compound, 5-year-old Maung Sai Wayan stepped on a landmine around noon and sustained severe injuries, ultimately leading to his death approximately three hours later.
