In Kawkareik Township of Karen State, local residents reported that starting from 5 PM today, the Kha La 97 Battalion has been indiscriminately firing heavy and light weapons towards residential areas.
Following an airstrike on Kawkareik city targeting Kha La 97 and the Kawkareik District Police Station led by Commander Colonel Aye Saw, it was revealed that three soldiers were killed, prompting the Kha La 97 Battalion to retaliate with heavy and light weapon fire.
A resident of Kawkareik stated, “Since around 5 PM, they have been firing heavy weapons from Kha La 97 towards residential areas. Both heavy and light weapons are being used. As of around 8 PM, it has quieted down a bit, but we still see drones and aircraft in the sky.”
