October 29, 2022

In the Tanpin Kone village of Htilin Township, Magway Region, the military has reportedly burned down 58 houses, as confirmed by an official from the Ya Lain Tan group. On October 27, the military, along with armed Pyu Saw Htee forces based in Gangaw, launched an arson attack that destroyed these homes.

During the destruction of civilian properties, it is reported that over 30 soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee bodies, who lost their lives in nearby fighting, were placed inside the houses and subsequently burned.

A spokesperson from the Ya Lain Tan group stated, “The military has burned down 58 civilian homes. Local residents were forced to flee with nothing but the clothes on their backs. All aspects of life, including food, health, and shelter, are suffering immensely. The military not only incinerated over 30 bodies of soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee who died in combat but also made sure to burn them inside the homes, turning them to ashes. Now, military units have re-entered the town.”
