Fighting in Thantlang Continues as Airstrikes Set Homes Ablaze, One Refugee Dies Due to Lack of Timely Medical Treatment

Ongoing clashes in Thantlang, Chin State, have resulted in widespread destruction as junta forces continue airstrikes, causing multiple homes in the town to burn down. One refugee has died due to the inability to receive timely medical treatment, according to a local official from the Thantlang Township People’s Administration.

On May 22, early morning at around 1 a.m., intensified fighting broke out following a series of aerial bombings by the junta forces. The attacks persisted until dawn, and by 10:40 p.m., gunfire erupted again in the town. Two homes in two different neighborhoods, including two more in Khaoloingo San Quarter, were reduced to ashes due to the strikes, it was reported.

Additionally, on the same day, a refugee suffering from liver disease passed away due to the lack of timely medical assistance. Reports indicate that fighting continues in Thantlang on May 23, with the number of displaced civilians increasing, now reaching tens of thousands. These displaced individuals are in urgent need of food, medicine, and essential supplies.
