In Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, the military has reportedly set fire to and destroyed more than 60 homes in the villages of Shitakone and Shitma. An official from the Kanbalu People’s Defense Force stated that the military has been launching assaults on villages since July 25, continuing their pattern of arson. On August 8, the military intensified its attacks, resulting in the destruction of over 60 civilian residences.
According to a local resident, “The military has been stationed in Shitma since July 25 and has about 100 troops in the area. They have continuously raided and set fire to villages, destroying over 60 homes in Shitakone and Shitma.”
Reports indicate that the arson by the military has led to significant damage, with 75 homes in Tharyekone village, 115 in Shantap, 65 in Meithit, 45 in Thapetaung, 64 in Bokone, 60 in Palei, 10 in Supokone, and 40 in Nyaundzinge being engulfed in flames.
