Military Shelling in Mon Township and Monywa Township Results in 2 Deaths and 7 Injuries

In Sagaing Region, two villages in Mon Township were targeted by heavy artillery fire from the military, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to seven others, according to a spokesperson from the Mon-Myin Road News Reporting Team.

This incident occurred today, August 11, around 9:30 AM, when heavy artillery shells fired from the military’s Ma-U checkpoint hit Linpoe Village and Linpinwa Village along the Mon-Myin Road, causing explosions that left nine civilians injured. Two victims were reported dead as a result of the shelling.

The deceased individuals were identified as 67-year-old Ma Sawdhei and 45-year-old Daw Tu, both residents of Thandeyein Village.

Reports indicate that the military has been daily shelling villages in the southern part of Mon Township (Mon-Myin Road area), leading to multiple casualties among the local population.

Similarly, in Magway Region, around 11:10 PM on August 9, the military’s Kha-la-73 Battalion shelled three artillery shells, one of which exploded in Kyaukgyi Paw Village, damaging three homes.
