KIA Captures Battalion 437 Near Momauk, Over 200 Junta Soldiers Killed, Armored Vehicle Seized

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) successfully captured Battalion 437 near Momauk, Kachin State, after a series of clashes, leaving over 200 junta soldiers dead and one armored vehicle seized. According to military sources from the KIA, the battalion was fully overrun around 3:10 p.m. on August 19.

KIA forces had begun their assault on Battalion 437 on July 24 and continued fighting for nearly a month. Despite the junta’s defense with around 500 troops, the KIA overpowered the battalion, seizing significant quantities of weapons and ammunition, while pursuing retreating soldiers.
