Clashes Between Military Reinforcements and TNLA Continue in Naungcho Township

Clashes between Myanmar’s military forces and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) have continued in Naungcho Township, Shan State, as military reinforcements are deployed to the area, according to TNLA sources. On August 22, fighting occurred in Taung Kham Village and at Taung Shwe Monastery, involving the Myanmar military’s 453rd Battalion and TNLA forces.

The military’s 902nd Battalion base in Taung Kham Village also saw clashes around 3:20 p.m., with the military launching an airstrike using a Y12 aircraft. Fighting resumed later in the day at 5:46 p.m. near the 453rd Battalion. Earlier at 2:15 p.m., confrontations took place near Taung Shwe Monastery.

The TNLA reported that the military reinforcements were sent from Kyaukku in Southern Shan State to Naungcho in an attempt to strengthen their position, leading to continued fighting between the two sides.
