Military Clashes in Khin-U Township Lead to Civilian Displacement and Casualties

In Khin-U Township, Sagaing Region, clashes between the military and PDF forces have resulted in casualties among military personnel and significant destruction in local villages. According to U Htu Khaung Zaw (Ameithar), the spokesperson for the People’s Defense Comrade based in Ye U, the military has been launching continuous offensives against nearby villages, leading to fierce battles.

On the morning of September 17, military troops attempted to enter the Madow Hla village area, engaging in combat with resistance forces in Mone Nat and Baodi Kon villages. Reports indicate that the bodies of deceased soldiers and the wounded were transported back to Madow Hla Pyusawhti village by military personnel.

“The military troops that moved out in the morning engaged in battle with resistance forces while attempting to enter the Mone Nat and Baodi Kon villages. They brought back the bodies of their dead and the injured with the assistance of their staff to Madow Hla Pyusawhti village,” stated U Htu Khaung Zaw.

It is reported that the military offensive has resulted in the burning and destruction of 13 villages, including Ngakyaing village on September 2, Inkin Pin Soe Gyi village and Thanatsin village on September 3, Pakhaw village and Netthwin village on September 4, Sisonlay village and Madow Gyi village on September 7, and Siputthara village, Japho village, and Paukthington village on September 10.

As a result of these military actions, over 500 homes have been burned across 13 villages, forcing thousands of residents to flee and remain in hiding, with their current situation still precarious.
