One Dead and Eight Injured, Including Two Children, in Artillery Strikes on Thibaw Town

In Thibaw Town, Shan State, a civilian has died, and eight others, including two children, were injured due to artillery strikes by the military, as reported by the TNLA.

On the evening of October 5, between 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM, the military targeted civilian areas in Thibaw Town with jet aircraft, conducting a series of bombings. It is reported that two bombs fell near the police station in Zawtung Ward, one at a popular snack shop in the Western Ward, and another near farmland in the Southern Ward.

As a result of these airstrikes, a 51-year-old man named Ko Naing Thein was killed at the popular snack shop, and two detainees, Ko Yay and Ko Pho Chaw, at the Thibaw police station, sustained severe injuries. The second floor of the snack shop was also engulfed in flames.

Additionally, at around 9:50 PM, the military launched two attacks using heavy weapons from a base in Nanlan, targeting areas near Leikyaing village and the Asia Wo gate.

The artillery strikes injured two children, a ten-month-old and a four-year-old, at Manansain Nwun in Leikyaing village. Three individuals, U Tin Win, U Thein Htun, and U Soe Myint, also suffered injuries to their foreheads, knees, arms, chests, eyes, and backs.

Moreover, more than 20 homes of local residents, as well as vehicles, motorcycles, and personal belongings inside homes, were reported to have been destroyed by fire.
