Airstrike on Refugee Camp at Monastery in Wausu Village, Matyar Township Leaves 12 Dead Including Monks and a Child

Local residents reported that an airstrike by the military council on a refugee camp at the monastery in Wausu Village, Matyar Township, resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals, including three monks and one child.

On October 11, around 1 PM, the military council conducted an airstrike on the refugee camp located at the monastery in Wausu Village, Matyar Township, leading to the death of 12 people: three monks, four men, one woman, and a 12-year-old child. Additionally, 30 others sustained injuries, according to local residents.

“There was no fighting occurring. Twelve civilians have died. The camp in Wausu Village is currently under attack with heavy weaponry from this relocation site. Thirty people have also been injured,” a local who lost family members explained.

Currently, it is known that military council forces are conducting operations within Matyar Township, resulting in clashes with the People’s Defense Forces.
